Write for us
We welcome pitches that help readers make more considered use of the city’s existing spaces, materials, routes, and shared resources. Send proposals through the Contact page rather than submitting a finished article.
What we are looking for
Good proposals focus on one clear question and offer a useful way to understand or approach it. We are interested in explanations, comparisons, histories, common misconceptions, and occasion-specific ideas that remain useful beyond a news cycle.
A strong pitch
Tell us the working title, the central point, why it suits Urban Purpose Guide, and what a reader will take away. Note any sources or expertise the piece would need, and disclose relevant interests. Keep the scope specific enough to avoid repeating existing coverage.
Before sending
We do not seek pitches built around unsupported claims, invented experiences, or recommendations that require professional judgement or local rule-checking. Proposals are sent through the Contact page; please choose the editorial question option and include your pitch in the message.
A city has more to offer when we use it thoughtfully
We look for considered ways to work with what is already around us: spaces, objects, routes and shared resources.
